Galatasaray lands big man Dudley

Galatasaray Medical Park shored up its frontline with the signing of big man Erwin Dudley, who arrives from rival Besiktas. Dudley (2,04 meters, 30 years old), who since receiving Turkish citizenship is known as Ersan Dagli in that country, has played his entire professional career in Turkey spare one season in Israel. He averaged 10.6 points and 6.7 rebounds in the Turkish League and 10.1 points and 6.8 rebounds in the EuroChallenge in helping Besiktas complete a brilliant campaign that included the Turkish League and Cup and the EuroChallenge crown. At Galatasaray he will join his former Besiktas coach, Ergin Ataman. Dudley returns to the Eurocup after three seasons in the competition with Turk Telekom Ankara between 2007 and 2010, during which he averaged 13.1 points on 56.9% shooting and 6.3 rebounds in 33 games.

Dudley first made a name for himself playing college basketball at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Dudley led the Southeastern Conference in rebounding for three consecutive seasons, becoming the first to do so since Shaquille O'Neal. He was named an All-American by the Associated Press, a consensus Southeastern Conference 2002 Player of the Year and a unanimous All-SEC First Team pick. In 2004, Dudley started his professional career with Maccabi Rishon LeZion in Israel, where he averaged 19.7 points and 11.6 rebounds. He joined Turk Telekom in 2005 and played five seasons there, during which he helped the team win the 2008 Turkish Cup. Dudley played for Efes Pilsen in 2010-11, where he made his Euroleague debut.
