Turkish League, Regular Season, Game 14

Efes Pilsen keeps leading the Turkish League standings with a 13-1 record. Fenerbahce Ulker is second at 12-2 and Banvit is now third at 10-4. Efes had to battle hard to edge Antalya 76-81 on the road on Saturday. Preston Shumpert led the winners with 22 points. Charles Smith added 16 while Kaya Peker had 12 for Efes, that led 40-41 at halftime. Efes led all the way in the second half but Antalya managed to get within 74-75.A three-pointer by Smith allowed Efes to seal the outcome.

FB Ulker had less troubles to down Bornova Belediye 90-69 at home on Sunday. Mirsad Turkcan led the winners with 19 points. Omer Onan added 15, Rasim Basak had 14 while Roko Ukic got 10 for Fener, that led 59-52 after 30 minutes and rolled in the fourth quarter to seal a well-deserved win. Besiktas Cola Turka dropped to 9-5 due to a 79-77 road loss against Pinar Karsiyaka. Ryan Toolson led the winners with 27 points. Fedor Likholitov led Besiktas with 21 points. Brad Newley added 16, Cevher Ozer had 11 while Haluk Yildirim got 10 for the guests, that trailed 74-69 late in the game. Besiktas tied it at 77-77 but Toolson sealed the outcome from the foul line. Galatasaray Cafe Crown improved to 7-7 by thrashing Aliaga Petkim 87-69 in Istanbul on Saturday. Simas Jasaitis led the winners with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Evren Buker added 17 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists, Rado Rancik had 12 points while Darius Washington got 11 for Galatasaray, that trailed 40-42 at halftime but rolled after the break to get a convincing win.
